GRE GROUP: jokes/caricature/satire


  1. Badinage (n): friendly joking between people; banter; teasing conversation
  2. Banter (n): a playful friendly exchange of remarks
    Bantering (adj): good natured ridiculing
  3. Satire (n): the art or practices of mocking people, institutions, etc or making them appear ridiculous in order to show how foolish, wicked or incompetent they are.
                   : A piece of writing, a play, a film etc, that uses this art.
    Political satire.
    Satirical (adj): containing or using satire; mocking
    Witty and satirical poems
  4. travesty (n): harshly distorted imitation; parody; debased likeness
  5. Farce (n): broad comedy; mockery
    Nothing went right; the entire interview degenerated into a farce
  6. Quip (n): a quick and clever reply; taunt.
    You are unpopular because you are too free with your quips and sarcastic comments.
  7. Caricature (n): a picture, description or impression of somebody/ something that makes them looks funny or ridiculous by exaggerating certain characteristics.
    He draws very funny caricatures of all his friends
  8. Burlesque (n): comic or exaggerated imitation or version of something, intended to make it look ridiculous; a parody.

  9. Lampoon (v): publicly satirize or ridicule
                    : a satirical attack
